Day 1Arrive Hobart (D)
Welcome to Tasmania. On arrival at Hobart airport you will be met and transferred* to your hotel. After check-in (approx 4pm), the rest of the day is at leisure for you to explore Australia’s most Southern City. As an option we suggest you to pre-purchase one of the extra sightseeing activities that are available for you to enhance your stay in Hobart. This evening meet your Evergreen Tours tour director and fellow travelers for a tour briefing and enjoy a welcome dinner.

Day 2Botanic Gardens – Wildlife Park – Richmond – Port Arthur (B,D)
This morning we explore the Royal Tasmanian Botanic Gardens, Australia’s second oldest botanic garden. Established in 1818, this 13.5 hectare property offers panoramic views of the River Derwent and is dominated by the largest public collection of mature conifers in the southern hemisphere. Visit Bonorong Wildlife Park and get up close and personal with a Tasmanian devil and many other native animals. Take a step back in time as you visit Richmond, one of Australia’s most charming Georgian villages. Enjoy free time to stroll along the town’s quaint streets and admire its delightful sandstone buildings. Then travel along the Tasman Peninsula to the Port Arthur Historic Site, once the home of up to 12,500 convicts. Visit the Interpretation Gallery and play the Lottery of Life, a unique way to learn about convict life. Join your expert guide for a walking tour amongst the buildings and ruins and cruise around the harbour to see the Isle of the Dead.

Day 3Freycinet National Park – Bicheno (B,D)
This morning we explore the Tasman Peninsular. See the Blow Hole, Tasman Arch and Devil’s Kitchen. Continue travelling north through beautiful coastal towns. Visit the Village of Swansea to see the convict built Spikey Bridge. Prepare yourself for the breathtaking beauty of Freycinet National Park. The dramatic peaks of the Hazards welcome you as you enter the park. Spectacular scenery, azure bays and white sand beaches. The Visitors centre introduces the natural and cultural heritage of this region through creative displays. We are then joined by our ranger guide for a short walk at Cape Tourville, along the boardwalk track around the cliffline to the lighthouse. Along this fenced track are sweeping views along the coast to the Friendly Beaches. Tonight you may choose a special crayfish dinner at a small additional cost (seasonal). This evening, we join a private guided tour of a fairy penguin colony. Watch as they return to the beach after a day’s fishing (colony numbers do vary each evening).

Day 4St. Helens – Tamar Valley – Launceston (B,D)
This morning we take a beautiful coastal drive and visit St Helens. Traverse the scenic Weldsborough Pass and drive through the lush Myrtle rainforest. We’ll see Legerwood’s WW1 memorial tree carvings, and the townsite of Scottsdale. Experience a guided tour of Bridestowe Lavender Farm, the largest and oldest lavender plantation in the southern hemisphere (note: Lavender is in bloom December and January only). We cross the spectacular Batman Bridge, one of the world’s first cable-stayed truss bridges and explore the beautiful Tamar Valley. First visit Beaconsfield, a town full of history and interesting old buildings. Here you’ll visit the Mine & Heritage Centre, a museum showcasing the history and heritage of the local area. Learn about gold mining and the miraculous survival of miners Webb & Russell.
Two Night Stay: Launceston
Day 5Woolmers Estate – Evandale – Cataract Gorge (B)
Your journey starts this morning with a visit to historic Woolmers Estate, regarded as Australia’s most significant colonial property with a collection of buildings, photographs, art and furniture. Join the local guide for a tour of the main house and spend time exploring the National Rose Garden which covers 1.5 hectares and is planted with over 3,000 roses. Next we visit the Tasmanian Gourmet Sauce Company and sample their delicious range of locally made sauces, jams and conserves. Return to Launceston and visit the famous Cataract Gorge Reserve and explore its wonderful scenery through the network of walking trails. The afternoon is at leisure or as an option we suggest one of the extra sightseeing activities.
Day 6Depart Launceston (B)
