Tour Itinerary
Day 1Vancouver - Campbell River
Board your flight from Vancouver to Campbell River, salmon fishing capital of the world. After checking into your hotel for the evening, explore the town and stroll along Discovery Pier and look out over the views of Discovery Passage, Quadra Island and the Coast mountain range on British Columbia’s mainland.
Overnight Stay: Herons Landing, Campbell River
Day 2Floatplane to Glendale Cove, Knight Inlet (CB,L,D)
This morning transfer to the floatplane dock for a short (25min) flight to Glendale Cove, Knight Inlet. Glendale Cove is home to one of the largest concentration of Grizzly bears in British Columbia. It is not uncommon for there to be 50 bears within a 10km radius of the lodge. After a brief orientation tour, venture up the estuary in search of bears and other wildlife. Enjoy lunch on arrival back at the Knight Inlet Lodge, a charming floating lodge nestled against a waterfall lined cliff. This afternoon you can choose from either a bear viewing tour (by boat in the spring and from a viewing platform in the summer) or a Knight Inlet sightseeing cruise. Travel throughout the inlet viewing seals, dolphins, whales, porpoises, sea lions and the occasional minke whale. This evening relax and enjoy dinner at the lodge (complimentary wine served with dinner).  After dinner feel free to join one of the evening interpretive presentations.
Two Night Stay: Knight Inlet Lodge, Glendale Cove
Day 3Knight Inlet (FB,L,D)
After breakfast you will have the opportunity to go on a guided walk of the beautiful Kwalate River Valley.  This is an excellent opportunity to experience the magic of a temperate old-growth rainforest ecosystem. The afternoon may include a guided tracking tour – a superb opportunity for all ages and abilities to learn more about bear habitat and behaviour and make plaster casts of prints if you find them! To round out the day, you will have another opportunity for more bear viewing before dinner. With five different viewing platforms in three different areas, you are sure to have photographic opportunities. After dinner feel free to join one of the evening interpretive presentations.
Day 4Glendale Cove - Vancouver (FB)
This morning perhaps take a quick tour to view the bears by sea kayak or boat, before your short floatplane flight to Campbell River. On arrival into Campbell River you will be transferred* from the float plane terminal to the airport for your connecting flight to Vancouver.
