South American Explorer - Amazon Lodge

Day 1: Lima, Peru

Bienvenido! Welcome to Lima, Peru. This city known as the “City of the Kings” is rich in history and culture. Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel.
Overnight Stay: Lima

Day 2: Lima - Iquitos (B,D)

Fly to the remote city of Iquitos. Journey up the river to your lodge and begin your jungle adventure.
Three Night Stay: Amazon Lodge

Day 3: Amazon Lodge (B,L,D)

Spend the days exploring the spectacular Amazon Jungle. Take a boat ride along the river spotting for dolphins. Visit an Indian village and learn of their culture. Then take a walking excursion to the river community of Indiana.

Day 4: Amazon Lodge (B,L,D)

Walk the spectacular Canopy Walkway then visit the “ReNuPeRu” Ethno botanical Garden cultivated by a local shaman who will explain the nature of Amazonian natural healing and the uses of some of the plants.

Day 5: Amazon - Lima (B)

After a morning excursion fly to Lima, Peru, home of ancient civilizations, rich cultures, majestic ruins, snow-capped mountains and fertile jungle.
Two Night Stay: Lima

Day 6: Lima (B,D)

City tour of the historical centre of Lima.
You’re Invited: Take a guided tour of the Larco Museum housing Inca and pre Inca artefacts. Afterwards enjoy a traditional dinner at the museum.

Day 7: Lima - Sacred Valley (B,D)

Fly to Cuzco, the ancient Inca capital. Drive to the Sacred Valley, stopping off at Awana Kancha llama farm. Head to the town of Pisac and explore its traditional markets.
Two Night Stay: Sacred Valley

Day 8: Sacred Valley (B)

Enjoy a walking tour of the town of Ollantaytambo.
You’re Invited: Visit a local community and meet the students and teachers at the local school.

Day 9: Sacred Valley - Machu Picchu (B,D)

Transfer to the station and board the Vistadome train for the journey to Machu Picchu. Your local guide will reveal some of the mysteries of this “Lost City of the Incas”.
Overnight Stay: Machu Picchu

Day 10: Machu Picchu - Cuzco (B)

Board the Vistadome train back to Ollantaytambo. Return by coach to Cuzco.
Three Night Stay: Cuzco

Day 11: Cuzco (B,D)

Be guided on a walking tour of Cuzco, the former capital of the Incas. Explore the main plaza, walk cobblestone streets and past ancient Inca buildings to Cuzco’s fascinating central market. Finish with a visit to Inca ruins. Tonight dine at a local restaurant.

Day 12: Cuzco (B)

Today is free to explore Cuzco.

Day 13: Cuzco - Lake Titicaca (B,D)

Fly to Lake Titicaca, the birthplace of the Inca Empire. Enjoy an excursion to the floating islands of Uros which are made of the hollow totora reeds allowing them to float.

Day 14: Puno - Lima (B)

Fly to Lima.
Overnight Stay: Lima

Day 15: Lima - Iguazú Falls, Brazil (B,D)

Fly to the World Heritage listed Iguazú Falls.
Two Night Stay: Iguazú Falls

Day 16: Iguazú Falls (B)

Cross the border into Argentina for your tour of the Argentinian side of the falls including the ‘Devil’s Throat’ viewpoint.

Day 17: Iguazú Falls - Rio de Janeiro (B)

Tour the majestic Brazilian falls before flying to Rio de Janeiro and famous Copacabana Beach. Rio is a city full of life, colour and vibrancy.
Three Night Stay: Rio de Janeiro

Day 18: Rio de Janeiro (B,D)

Tour the sights of Rio de Janeiro. Ride the cogwheel railway to the ‘Christ the Redeemer’ statue, then ride the cable car to the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain.
You’re Invited: Visit the Sambadrome#, and try on some carnival costumes. This evening feast like a local at a Brazilian Churrascaria.

Day 19: Rio de Janeiro (B)

Today is free to explore Rio.

Day 20: Rio de Janeiro - Buenos Aires - Argentinian Ranch, Argentina (B,D)

Fly to Buenos Aires, Argentina, a country with strong European influence.
You’re Invited: Travel to an Argentinian ranch or “estancia”. Here you will learn about their famous cowboys or “gauchos”.

Day 21: Argentinian Ranch - Buenos Aires (B,L)

Explore the farm or take a horseback ride, then savour a traditional “parilla” or BBQ lunch before making our way to Buenos Aires.
Three Night Stay: Buenos Aires

Day 22: Buenos Aires (B)

Take a guided city tour of Buenos Aires visiting the central square, a traditional café, San Telmo and La Boca. Finish at Recoleta Cemetery.

Day 23: Buenos Aires (B,D)

Explore Buenos Aires at your own pace.
You’re Invited: Soak up a tango show with dinner.

Day 24: Depart Buenos Aires (B)

Transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
