Recent statistics show there is a growing trend for solo travellers, with more of us going it alone to experience the world’s magnificent wonders than ever before.
Google searches for the phrase ‘solo female travel’ hit an all-time peak of 100 million searches in 2017, whilst The British Airways ‘Global Solo Travel Study’, also found that more than half of women interviewed are choosing to travel solo.
The survey, which included responses from almost 9,000 18-64 year olds across the UK, US, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, India and China, revealed that over 50% of women had travelled by themselves in the past, while 74% of respondents were planning a solo trip in the future.
Today, it’s becoming increasingly easier to source solo travel deals. With attitudes changing and more people having the desire to see more of the world, it’s easy to see why so many people are opting for solo travel.
One of the major advantages of travelling solo is that you can choose the type of holiday you want and the destination that you really want to visit, without having to compromise. You get to see the world the way you want to at a pace that suits you, whether you travel independently from country to country or join other like-minded travellers in a group and make new friends along the way.
Travelling on your own is a confidence booster and will help you get out of your comfort zone with the opportunity to try new things and tackle obstacles along the way. Solo travel also allows you to enjoy your own company and get to know yourself better. It can also help you overcome your fears as well as give you time to reflect on your new experiences.
Travelling as a single person does have its drawbacks, and one of the major disadvantages of travelling solo is the perception of the higher cost that can be associated with it, particularly with single supplements for accommodation.
Fortunately, Evergreen Cruises & Tours has stepped up to cater for this growing market and has a number of fantastic incentives aimed at the solo traveller.
Solo travellers can join the Evergreen Solo Explorer Club, and be the first to know about exclusive offers on single travel deals on river cruises and tours.
Currently, Evergreen has a number of products with amazing offers available for solo travellers including no single supplements, or discounted single supplements which are well worth considering. Don’t miss out – these offers must end 6 January 2019.
