  • Day 1 Arrive Munich

    Welcome to Munich, the capital of Bavaria. On arrival at the airport, you will be met and transferred to your centrally located hotel. This evening meet your Tour Director and fellow travellers for a welcome drink.

  • Day 2 Munich

    On our included guided walking tour we visit the heart of old Munich, Marienplatz, a large open square with the Marien column in the centre, where we see the famous Glockenspiel on the Town Hall play. At the nearby victuals market, which has been operating for 100 years, local delicacies and souvenirs are available. In your free time visit the English Garden, the largest central park in Europe, Deutsche Museum or the BMW Museum, an automotive display.

  • Day 3 Munich – Neuschwanstein – Zurich

    Today drive south to Fussen to ‘Mad King Ludwigs’ fairy-tale castle at Neuschwanstein. Be amazed at the intricately carved furnishings, frescoes and mosaics on our included guided tour. There is also an included horse and cart trip down from the castle after the tour. Following Lake Zurich, we arrive into the financial centre of Switzerland.

  • Day 4 Zurich – Lucerne

    An included guided walking tour reveals a contrast between the luxury designer shops and modern buildings on the Bahnhofstrasse and the imposing Romanesque Cathedral which dominates the old town with its twin towers. Arrive into the picturesque lake resort town of Lucerne. Stroll to the Lion Monument, a memorial to the 767 Swiss Guards killed during the French Revolution, the old town and cross the medieval Chapel Bridge to the ornate Jesuit Church with our local guide. Tonight we enjoy a traditional folklore show as we savour a highlight meal of traditional Swiss fondue.

  • Day 5 Lucerne

    Enjoy a guided cruise on Lucerne’s gorgeous lake en-route to the quaint village of Vitznau. Here we join the oldest cogwheel train in Switzerland for a breathtaking ascent of Mount Rigi, known as ‘the Queen of the Mountains’. Savour the incredible scenery from the summit where you have a breathtaking panoramic view of the Alps. The afternoon is at leisure for you to explore. Shopping is plentiful, from Swiss watches to jewellery and delicious chocolates.

  • Day 6 Lucerne – Glacier Express – St. Moritz

    This morning, we drive to Andermatt where we board the Glacier Express for possibly the world’s most breath-taking mountain rail journey. Journey past towering peaks with green valleys arriving into St. Moritz. Initially known for its curative mineral springs, St. Moritz is now a chic and exclusive international resort frequented by celebrities and royalty from all over Europe. Enjoy dinner at your hotel this evening.

  • Day 7 St. Moritz – Innsbruck

    After a leisurely morning we depart for a spectacular drive along the Engadine Valley. This area is considered by some to be one of the most beautiful areas in the world, with its deep blue lakes, larch forests and mountain peaks exceeding 12,000ft. Cross the border back into Austria and the Tyrolean capital, Innsbruck, encircled by the spectacular Austrian Alps.

  • Day 8 Innsbruck

    This delightful town on the Inn River is sandwiched between towering mountain ranges to the north and south. Innsbruck prospered due to its strategic position at the head of the Brenner Pass to Italy. See the impressive baroque Wilten Basilica, the recently built ski-jump and the old town including the famous Golden Roof, built to cover the Emperor in 1,500.

  • Day 9 Innsbruck – Salzburg

    This morning, drive through the Alpine region of Austria which includes Kitzbuhel - one of the most famous ski resorts in Europe - and into Salzburg. Salzburg is famous for its onion shaped domes and charming courtyards, all dwarfed by the imposing Hohensalzburg fortress. The history and sights of this baroque city are revealed during an included guided walking tour. See the mighty cathedral, Mozart’s birthplace and many of the locations used during the filming of ‘The Sound of Music’, such as the Mirabell Palace and gardens.

  • Day 10 Salzburg – Graz

    We continue through Austria’s mountains and valleys to the country’s second city, Graz where we take a tour of the well preserved old quarter of the city and admire its galleried courtyards and Renaissance squares. The city has 6 universities with more than 40,000 students, and the Old Town in a UNESCO World Heritage site.

  • Day 11 Graz – Budapest

    Today’s journey takes us through northern Slovenia, where we tour the town of Maribor, one of the few places that remained free under the iron curtain of former Yugoslavia. Travel into Hungary, with time at leisure for lunch on Lake Balaton. Later, continue into Budapest, the capital of Hungary.

  • Day 12 Budapest Embarkation

    Enjoy a morning at leisure to explore Budapest. Perhaps visit the thriving local market or relax in one of the many thermal baths throughout the city. In the afternoon, a warm welcome awaits you as your board your luxury Emerald Waterways Star Ship. This evening enjoy a traditional Hungarian welcome dinner while cruising along the Danube passing under the city’s numerous bridges.

  • Day 13 Budapest

    Budapest is Eastern Europe’s liveliest and most cosmopolitan city. Enjoy a guided tour of the city sights including the Hungarian Parliament Building, the Buda Castle and the Chain Bridge linking Buda and Pest or an exciting hike on the Buda Hill. This afternoon you depart for Bratislava.

  • Day 14 Bratislava

    This morning we arrive at the city of Bratislava, capital of the Republic of Slovakia. Enjoy a sightseeing tour including the enchanting Old City with its Town Hall, Mirbach Palace and the Gothic Cathedral of St Martin.

  • Day 15 Vienna

    Today you have a choice of either exploring Austria’s capital beginning with a drive along the Ringstrasse, where we will see Vienna’s world–famous Opera House, Burgtheatre, Spanish Riding School, Town Hall, St. Stephen’s Cathedral and the Hofburg Imperial Palace. Alternatively, join the guided bike tour instead of the drive around and guided walk. Then you have free time to sample the wonderful tastes of Vienna.

  • Day 16 Durnstein - Melk

    In the morning we arrive in Dürnstein, one of the most enchanting villages of the Wachau wine region. This is the site of the castle where Richard the Lionheart was imprisoned after returning from the crusades in the 12th century. Thereafter you drive through the picturesque landscape of this district to the 900–year old Benedictine Abbey of Melk, which features Austria’s finest Italian baroque architecture.

  • Day 17 Passau

    Cruise along the Danube this morning, in the afternoon we reach Passau. Cobblestone streets and graceful arcades welcome you in this beautiful city. On this afternoon’s walking tour, stroll through the old town’s narrow alleys and see the hilltop Oberhaus Fortress from the town below. Visit St. Stephen’s Cathedral, a wonderful example of Baroque architecture and home to Europe’s largest church organ with more than 17,000 pipes.

  • Day 18 Regensburg - Kelheim

    After breakfast we arrive in magnificent Regensburg. On our guided walking tour you’ll have the chance to see one of the oldest bridges crossing the Danube and see the city’s architectural highlights including the Old Town Hall.

  • Day 19 Nuremberg

    Today you will have a sightseeing coach tour of the historic city of Nuremberg. Your coach tour would pass by the 900-year-old ramparts, the Imperial Castle and the Justice Palace where the War Crimes Tribunal sat in 1946. You will also get the chance to pass by the Nazi party rally grounds, where rallies were held from 1933 until 1938. Afterwards take a self-guided tour of the WWII Documentation Centre or instead enjoy free time in the city centre.

  • Day 20 Bamberg

    This morning we arrive at Bamberg, a UNESCO World Heritage city. Boasting one of Europe’s largest intact medieval town centres, Bamberg is bursting with original character and charm. At the centre of the town is the largest preserved old quarter in Europe.

  • Day 21 Wurzburg

    Known as the “Pearl of the Romantic Road”, Wurzburg is surrounded by sloping hills covered with vineyards. Join our guide for a walking tour of Wurzburg followed by a visit to the Bishops’ Residenz, one of Germany’s largest and most ornate baroque palaces and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your tour highlights the palace’s unique staircase, elaborate 18th century frescoes and the amazing 3–dimensional stuccowork.

  • Day 22 Wertheim - Miltenberg

    Today we start from the stunning medieval glass-blowing town of Wertheim, where you have the opportunity to explore on your own. Then, travel by coach to the picturesque village of Miltenberg on the Main River. The village creates an imitable feeling of Bavarian life in the middle ages and the Old Town is lined with well–preserved half–timbered buildings. The gothic Merchant Hall is an impressive symbol of past affluence created by trade from river traffic. After your guided tour enjoy free time until the ship arrives.

  • Day 23 Rudesheim- Koblenz

    After breakfast arrive in Rüdesheim, one of Germany’s most popular towns. You will either have a choice of visiting the Siegfried’s Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum or if you feel active take a guided hike to a local winery. In your free time, continue exploring and perhaps taste the famous “Rudesheimer Coffee”, made with Germany’s most famous brandy Asbach Uralt. After lunch, the ships will sail through the spectacular Rhine Gorge. We will pass the infamous Lorelei Rock where sailors are said to have been lured onto treacherous rocks by enchanted temptresses. In the early evening we arrive into the beautiful 2,000 year old town of Koblenz.

  • Day 24 Cologne

    The ship sails from Koblenz in the early morning, cruising along the Rhine we arrive in Cologne. Founded by the Romans, Cologne is one of Germany’s oldest cities and is famous for its magnificent World–heritage listed Gothic Cathedral and market squares lined with cafes, shops and beer halls. This evening the captain will be delighted to welcome you to the Captain’s Farewell Gala Dinner.

  • Day 25 Amsterdam

    The ship sails along the Amsterdam Rijnkanaal and into Amsterdam. This morning you can decide to either enjoy a glass top canal boat tour through Amsterdam’s canal or a guided bike tour. For those on the canal cruise, afterwards continue with an orientation walk followed by free time, to visit some other famous attractions, such as the Rijks or Van Gogh Museums, or simply enjoy the lively atmosphere and watch the world go by.

  • Day 26 Amsterdam Disembarkation
