29 Day Itinerary

  1. Day 1 - Cape Town

    Welcome to South Africa and to the cosmopolitan city of Cape Town. On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel for a welcome briefing from your Tour Director.

  2. Day 2 - Cape Town

    Today, explore the beautiful Cape Peninsula. Enjoy the spectacular views from the summit of Cape Point, then visit Boulders Beach, home to the protected land based colony of African penguins. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in Simons Town.

  3. Day 3 - Cape Town

    Enjoy a city tour including a cable car ride to the top of Table Mountain (weather permitting). The rest of the day is at leisure.

  4. Day 4 - Cape Town – Knysna

    Travel through the mountains of the Western Cape then along the beautiful Garden Route to Knysna. This afternoon enjoy a sunset cruise.

  5. Day 5 - Knysna – Addo Elephant National Park

    Continue along the Garden Route through Plettenberg Bay and the beautiful Tsitsikamma Rainforest before arriving at Addo Elephant National Park, the third largest national park in South Africa.

  6. Day 6 - Addo Elephant National Park

    An early start for your morning game drive in open safari four wheel drive vehicles. Look out for close up photo opportunities of the ‘Big Five’ elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard. In the early afternoon, enjoy a traditional African high tea before your afternoon game drive. Return to the lodge where dinner is included.

  7. Day 7 - Port Elizabeth – Durban

    Leaving Addo, drive to Port Elizabeth for your flight to Durban (flight not included, book flight after 1:00pm).

  8. Day 8 - Drakensberg – Cathedral Peak

    Travel north into the magnificent World Heritage listed Drakensberg Ranges through stunning mountain scenery before arriving at your hotel, perched on the slopes of the 3004 metre Cathedral Peak.

  9. Day 9 - Drakensberg

    Today is at leisure for you to enjoy the magnificent surroundings of the Drakensberg Ranges.

    Travel north through Natal, into the independent kingdom of Swaziland, where your hotel is located in a picturesque valley en route to Kruger National Park.

  11. Day 11 - Swaziland – Kruger National Park

    Continue to the world famous Kruger National Park, home to many hundreds of species, cats, antelope, as well as the ‘Big Five’. Drive by coach through the park to your hotel where you enjoy an outdoor ‘boma’ highlight dinner (weather permitting) to taste some of the delights of Africa.

  12. Day 12 - Kruger National Park

    Start early this morning for your game drive in customised open safari vehicles. A light bush lunch is included before your afternoon game drive commences.

    You’re Invited: Visit Elephant Whispers, a project dedicated to securing the future of the African elephant. Experienced elephant handlers share their in-depth knowledge and you get a chance to get up close to these amazing animals.

    Travel along the ‘Panorama Route’ and view the stunning Blyde River Canyon, the third largest canyon in the world.

    This morning travel to South Africa’s largest city Johannesburg.

  15. Day 15 - Johannesburg – Victoria Falls

    Depart the hotel this morning for your transfer to the airport to meet your flight (flight not included) to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. On arrival, see one of the most spectacular natural sites, Victoria Falls. You’re Invited: Travel to Chinotimba township to experience life in a truly African community. Enjoy a cruise on the Zambezi at sunset.

  16. Day 16 - Victoria Falls – Elephant Valley

  17. Day 17 - Chobe National Park

    Welcome to the bustling city of Cairo, Egypt’s sprawling capital set on the Nile River. You will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel.

  20. Day 20 - Cairo

    Today, explore the ancient burial ground of Saqqara and view the world’s oldest standing pyramid of King Djoser, built some 4,500 years ago. Explore the newest discoveries including the tomb of Maya, the wetnurse of Tutankhamun.

  21. Day 21 - Cairo

    Be awed by the sheer magnitude of the Pyramids before marvelling at the 20-metre limestone monolith of the Sphinx.

  22. Day 22 - Cairo

    This morning you will discover the priceless antiquities in the Egyptian Museum including the artefacts recovered from Tutankhamun’s tomb as part of your included tour. Continue to be amazed, as we take you to visit one of the Cairo Citadel.

  23. Day 23 - Cairo – Luxor Embarkation

    Today, you will fly to Luxor where you will have a chance to visit the West Bank of the Nile and be astounded by the well-preserved, colourful hieroglyphics adorning the tombs in the Valley of the Kings. You will begin your journey in Luxor with a visit to the Monument of Queen Hatshepsut, and statues of the Colossi of Memnon. Then, embark on your cruise ship privately chartered for Emerald Waterways and settle into your cabin. Later, visit the vast open-air temple complex of Karnak and be awed by the enormity of the pillars as you walk through the impressive Hypostyle Hall.

  24. Day 24 - Nile Cruising

    Relax on one of the Sun Decks and catch a glimpse of daily life along the banks of the Nile as you cruise to Dendera. Once in Dendera, you will have a chance to marvel at the vibrant colours of the hieroglyphics adorning the roof of the Hathor’s Temple during your included visit. Return to Luxor and tour the temple complex of Luxor straddling the banks of the Nile. This evening, on board entertainment will delight with the colours of the whirling dervishes and the mesmerizing moves of a belly dancer.

  25. Day 25 - Nile Cruising

    Follow the course of the ancient Pharaohs’ processions along the Nile as you cruise south, where villages and majestic temples line the banks of the river against the backdrop of the desert. Discover the Temple of Horus at Edfu, the most completely preserved complex in Egypt. This afternoon, explore Kom Ombo temple, perched high on the east bank and dedicated to Sobek, the crocodile god. A fun night awaits on board with a lively Galabeyya party themed with Egyptian delicacies, music and dancing.

  26. Day 26 - Nile Cruising

    Cruise south to reach charming Aswan, the home of the Nubian people. Discover the Osiris temple complex of Philae, then visit the stone quarries to learn about ancient carving techniques and see the enormous unfinished obelisk. This afternoon, take a Felucca cruise on the Nile (weather dependent). Tonight, join the Captain and crew for a farewell Gala Dinner, followed by a Nubian show.

  27. Day 27 - Nile Cruise Disembarkation – Abu Simbel - Aswan

    This morning, bid farewell to your crew as you disembark your ship. You will fly to Abu Simbel and visit one of Egypt’s most magnificent monuments. Marvel at the enormous World Heritage-listed temples of Ramses II and his wife Nefertari, rescued from the rising waters of the Aswan Dam. Return to Aswan where you will spend one-night.

  28. Day 28 - Aswan – Cairo

    Start your day with a visit to a traditional Nubian village. Meet the school children and learn about life on an island in the Nile. In the afternoon, you will fly to Cairo, then join your tour director for a farewell dinner. Included is a one-night stay in Cairo.
