For history buffs then Egypt and Jordan are perfect to visit during January to March. Warm days and cool nights, provide the right climate to explore ancient temples and the Great Pyramids of Giza. Cruise the Nile River, visit the Valley of the Kings and marvel at the UNESCO World Heritage-listed sites of Petra and the Treasury.

The beginning of April marks the start of Europe’s river cruising season. This is the time to head to Europe for cooler temperatures and blooming floral displays particularly in Amsterdam. From mid-April, pay a visit to the renowned Keukenhof Gardens where more than 7 million flowering tulips are in bloom with stunning colourful displays. Spring also brings ideal temperatures for guided hikes to historic castles, cycling tours following the river and strolls through the picturesque vineyards.

For wildlife lovers, Canada is also a fabulous destination to travel to at this time of year with bears emerging from hibernation and the chance to spot brown and black bears with their cubs. You might also see elk, the elusive moose, bighorn sheep and bald eagles. Snow is starting to melt and icy lakes are beginning to crack and thaw, revealing their vibrant aqua blue and turquoise coloured pristine waters. Witness the stunning lakes in Banff National Park with Lake Louise one of the most popular for very good reason. You can wake up to views of the beautiful lake when you stay at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise.

If you love warmer temperatures then Europe’s summer is a great time to visit. You can enjoy long, hot sunny days while people watching over a latte in quaint cafes, and also explore the numerous festivals happening at this time of the year. From Salzburg’s Festival to France’s Bastille Day celebrations, Europe is abuzz with activity besides its iconic sights and picturesque landscape.

Time your visit to Canada in July for the Calgary Stampede, dubbed as the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth, before embarking on a mesmerising train journey through Canada’s Rocky Mountains via the iconic Rocky Mountaineer over two days from Jasper to Vancouver.

Eastern Canada is also a popular choice for leaf peeping, with dazzling displays of crimson red and golden yellow leaves as the aspens reveal their autumnal foliage to all who venture beneath. 

Of course, Europe is a must from late November to December for its magical Christmas Markets. Enjoy a festive river cruise through Europe and stop by the wooden stalls in Nuremberg, Cologne and Vienna for handmade gifts, baubles, and artisan goods for loved ones back home. If you’re lucky you may even enjoy a white Christmas with a sprinkling of snow.

For a holiday slightly closer to home, then a Mekong river cruise through Vietnam and Cambodia is equally worth considering. Visit ancient temples, be blessed by monks and tantalise your tastebuds with an abundance of Vietnamese and Cambodian delicacies. And if you’re brave enough you could even try tarantula! If time allows, spend a few extra nights in Ho Chi Minh City before or after your cruise to really soak up the historic sights with highlights including the Opera House, City Hall and the Reunification Palace, the city’s most iconic building.
